Texture Media Inc. is a social media company dedicated to helping, empowering, and connecting people with curls, kinks, and waves world-wide. Their flagship brand is NaturallyCurly.com which, myself and many other hair fanatics have learned from and been loyal to for years. They really have done a fabulous job of creating a place where literally every question and concern regarding your particular texture can be addressed. I found my hair stylist on that site and all of the products that I consider to be staples in my routine. So if you haven’t created an account with them, definitely check it out!
The best part about being a NaturallyCurly.com member is being able to gain exclusive access to major events in the natural hair community. I had the pleasure of serving as a Brand liason with them for their Curls Unleashed launch party and Texture on the Runway fashion show this past weekend.
Texture on the runway was all about celebrating something that is just beginning to emerge with full-force in the fashion industry… Natural textured hair! Doesn’t matter if your curl pattern is loose, fine, tight, or kinky…. it provides a unique look and dynamic to compliment fashion. Leading brands including Arrojo, Matrix, Curls Unleashed by Organic Root Stimulator, Hair Rules, CURLS, Minardi, and CosmoProf where all in attendance with models that represented the companies style and service. My favorite YouTuber Taren (Taren916) was the host along with the Co-founder and President of Naturallycurly.com, Michelle Breyer.
I was ecstatic about having the opportunity to learn new techniques and try new products (product Junkie!). It was also so much fun getting to see all the bloggers and celebs I follow like Jenell of KinkyCurlyCoilyMe.com, Kim Coles, and Afrobella of Afrobella.com.
One of the most important techniques I learned pertained to twist outs and bantu knots. It’s always better to let your hair set for several days if possible to achieve a twist out that will last. Many naturals do two strand twists then try to un-twist the following day/morning. While this is fine, the hair tends to lose the shape a lot faster than if the twists are allowed to set for a few days 
This weekend I will be trying the Curls Unleashed line by Organic Root Stimulator. I received the entire line during the launch party and so far I have heard positive feedback. A lot of people have said it is comparable to Miss Jessie’s and at a price point that is a lot less it seems like a good deal!
Over all it was a great natural hair weekend!
